Bulk Shipment - Dry Bulk
Dry bulk shipping involves the use of bulk storage containers that are stacked and stored on large merchant vessels. These include anything from wheat and grains to raw materials inventory like wood and coal. Usually, cranes, hoppers, silos, or conveyor belts are used to store these commodities. They are transported on ships/vessels with a single deck and numerous hatchways.
Bulk Shipment - Liquid Bulk
Liquid bulk products include any free-flowing liquid material, including chemicals like gasoline and consumables like milk or juice.
Shipments of liquid and large items are made utilizing specialized containers or liquid-filled tanks. At ports, pipes and pumping stations are used to fill these tanks.
The largest vessels with reinforced hulls are almost always used to transport liquid bulk materials. These vessels have a capacity of over 400,000 tons. This is necessary since liquid goods often weigh more but take up less space than their dry counterparts. An important aspect of inventory control is proper storage.
